Taproot
Taproot, a women’s vocal harmony quartet, delivers original, contemporary, and traditional folk songs with intelligence, passion and wit. The voices belong to four striking women, all seasoned Boston area performers: Gail Finnie, Anne Goodwin, Rebecca Pugh and Deborah Silverstein. Taproot performs creative a capella arrangements of ballads, gospel tunes, sing-a-longs and the finely crafted songs of Deborah Silverstein. Their powerful sound, emerging from a unique combination of spirited rhythm and intricately layered vocals, embraces themes from the lighthearted to the profound, resulting in a repertoire that embodies generous spirit, buoyant humor and downright good music.
Taproot has performed at the following venues: Club Passim, First Night, Boston; Johnny D’s Lounge; New England Folk Festival; WUMB Boston Folk Festival; to name but a few. The Taproot recordings below are some of my original compositions.
